Vijay Jindal works as a senior management position with The Times Group and Zee TV. He has also worked as co-chairman of marketing and advertising services of Prasar Bharti along-with Alique Padamsee. After some time Media industry veteran Vijay Gopal Jindal has joined Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) as advisor to the chairman, Naveen Jindal.
Vijay Gopal Jindal has more than 31 years of experience in managing businesses, brands, private equity investments and undertaking strategic initiatives. Zee Network managing director Vijay Jindal is leaving the company to start his own venture. Mr Jindal, who has been successfully steering Zee Network since May 23, 1996, is being relieved of his executive responsibilities of the company.
Though Mr Jindal will continue to be advisor to the promoter shareholder of the Essel Group of companies for the next three years. Many media analysts felt that Zee Network chairman Subhash Chandra has treated him the way Rupert Murdoch got rid of Star TV’s India head Rathikant Basu. Mr Chandra will support Mr Jindal in his new media venture. Zee Telefilms will hold 40 per cent in Mr Jindal’s Rs 10-crore media investment company.
Mr Jindal was the MD of ZTL. Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra said, “The group encouraged executives to graduate and become entrepreneurs. We are with them in their pursuit to realise their dreams.” Mr Jindal, in a joint release, said he would be available to the group in his capacity as an adviser. “I am looking forward to getting into film production and various media-related activities which will not be in conflict with the business interests of ZTL,” he said.
Mr Jindal had successfully managed Zee TV between 1996 and 1999 in an entrepreneurial style. In 1999, the board and the promoter shareholders felt that the business having expanded exponentially required that it be run and managed not only in a more focussed manner but also in an institutional mould without losing its entrepreneurial strengths.
Mr. Vijay Gopal Jindal has been Advisor to the Chairman at Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. since June 2015. He was co-nominated for the “Businessman of the Year” award by the Economic Times.
Mr. Jindal holds a bachelor’s degree in science with honours in agricultural economics from Punjab Agriculture University and a master’s degree in business administration from College of Basic Sciences & Humanity, Punjab Agriculture University.
